Your brain is a magnificent instrument and it controls your whole life. It controls your emotions and is the source of your intelligence. When used properly your mind can provide you with everything you want.

Your mind is so efficient that within a blink of an eye it can deliver whatever it is you desire. It can offer you health, wealth and happiness and all you have to do is ask for it. So what do you need to do to develop these mind skills further and improve your life? Meditation.

Meditation is achieved by training brainwave patterns to be focused on one process such as through a mantra, prayer or staring at a candle. These processes can take many years to learn so you have to find other ways to get you into the meditative state more quickly.

Meditation can be used to overcome problems such as depression, anxiety and panic attacks, sleeping disorders and drug and alcohol problems. There are products available which work on stimulating the brainwaves which need 6 minutes of being exposed to steady and accurate pulses in order to retrain your brain. These products are called brainwave entertainment.

Once you’ve used this system to meditate you’ll be able to boost your brain power and all it takes is less than 30 minutes a day. You can boost your creativity and feel at peace, more confident and have much more excitement into your life.

The other benefits of meditation are that you are able to concentrate more easily and you are able to get rid of those negative thoughts more easily.

You can really change and improve your life using the benefits of meditation.

In this five-minute interview with Anthony Robbins he is telling us that no matter how bad it gets, or how we feel, we know that there is always someone who is worse off than us.

Anthony Robbins was talking about the current financial situation and how it really is no different to any other disaster that we have faced in our lives previously.

Even with the impact these disasters had on us, there were still people out there who managed to make a living and survived the impact it had on them. What he was saying was that we cannot let the circumstances defeat us, but instead, we should raise ourselves up to the challenge and find a new direction.

Motivation and self improvement is your responsibility and is an insight into the way you are currently thinking. If you are in a constant state of negativity, then it is your responsibility to change your thoughts in any way you can.

If you believe that the current financial crisis is going to destroy your current lifestyle and everything you've worked for then it will happen. What you need to do is to change the self talk in your head and turn it around to thinking about how you can change your situation for the better. Change will only happen when you decide to do something about it.

So you want more tips on how to boost your self-esteem? Read on!

In this article, we’ll focus on relationships with yourself, others and your environment. All of these factor into your self-concept. You could say that your confidence depends on how well you juggle all of them. Apply the following tips to begin increasing your self-esteem and coping with the world around you:

Remember the Golden Rule

Be kind, generous, open, honest and positive with others if you want them to be the same way with you. Though it’s not advisable to rely on others for your self-esteem, being positive with others increases the chances that they’ll be positive with you. Maximizing the positive energy around you is exactly what you should be aiming for as someone who wants to build confidence.

Manage stress

Many of us have fast, high-stress lifestyles. For some of us, there isn’t much we can do to change what makes them fast and high-stress. But there are ways that we can manage the resulting stress. Meditation and exercise are natural ways that we can reduce stress and expel it from our minds and bodies. Even cleaning your environment (desks, rooms, etc.) has been shown to clear minds.

Own your actions

Taking responsibility for you begins to clear the path for healthy self-esteem. If you haven’t already, start to recognize what your principles and convictions are and live by the rules that you set for yourself. Make yourself live up to your own expectations and not those of others’.

Practice forgiveness

Forgiveness frees you and others from the negative emotion of guilt. Let go of the things in the past that have kept you from experiencing life to the fullest. Shake off grudges and past incidents that make you keep experiencing negativity and low self-esteem.

Hope for the future

Being optimistic about what life has in store for you can do wonders for your self-esteem as well as your outlook. But an attitude change doesn’t have to be only internal. Reflect your internal change by sprucing up your outside, too. Makeovers, a change in wardrobe, a new haircut or even smiling more can give you an unexpected boost in confidence.

Very soon, you’ll learn more ways to boost your self-esteem and be taught how to put them into practical use in the real world. Stay tuned for the upcoming emails…

One of the biggest roadblocks to great self-esteem is fear.

This isn’t the type of phobia that can be traced back to something real like spiders or heights. Instead, it’s based on something that can’t be touched—the possibility of failure. People with good self-concepts might laugh at that idea because it’s impossible for them to entertain the thought of letting fear stand in the way of their successes.

That’s where I want you to be at the end of my course. There are daredevils that laugh at danger; I want you to be a confident person that laughs at fear! You’ll be surprised by how easy it’ll be for you to achieve your goals once you refuse to let the fear of failure affect your self-esteem.

Here are some ways that you can squash the fear of failure that’s holding your great self-esteem hostage:

Be realistic with worst-case scenarios

Lots of people with low self-esteem allow themselves to think the worst will happen- and more. It’s important to objectively assess your risks so that you’ll have a clear picture of what you’re capable of.

Take the dive into something new

Change is something that people fear greatly. But change doesn’t always have to be bad. In fact, change can refine your coping abilities and strengthen your emotional makeup- two things that are absolutely necessary to build healthy self-esteem.

Depend on determination

You’ve probably heard of great achievements accomplished by “sheer determination.” We’re going to do that, too. And it will be a major accomplishment because changing life patterns and ways of thinking is no small achievement and all depends on your will.

Let go of the past

Those who have low self-esteem tend to hold onto the past. They can believe that their past determines their future. But there’s no more dangerous threat to someone’s self-esteem than this very belief. This keeps self-esteem dependent on past events that can’t be changed. With my help, you’ll be able to stop living in the past and look forward to a future where your self-esteem is a product of your abilities and accomplishments.

Turn failure into a learning experience

Modifying your attitude towards failure is a major part of getting over it. I’ll teach you how to look at failure not as the end of an activity but as the beginning of your path to a healthy self-concept.

All of these tips and what I’ll teach you later will help you view the world differently. You’ll begin to look at life’s challenges in a new light if you overcome your fear of failure. You’ll even learn to welcome them because they’ll help you prove your abilities to yourself. And what could be better than that when you’re trying to build confidence?

Read my next article for more practical tips on how to boost your self-esteem…

"Self-trust is the first secret of success."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Emerson was so right. Regardless of how you define “success”, you have to agree that trusting and being confident in yourself is the first step towards achievement of any kind. Both of these things help you make and be comfortable with decisions no matter their size. Most importantly, it’s how you empower yourself to live your life.

Right now, you might be asking yourself what a person with low self-esteem looks like. Someone with low self-esteem can look like anyone. It’s what’s going on inside the person that makes them different from someone with average or high self-esteem.

It may come as no surprise that many self-esteem issues have their roots in childhood. These are the formative years for any person. What occurs during this time can effect a person’s assessment of themselves and the world around them for the rest of his life. Child abuse, parental neglect, parenting style and even genetics can lead to low self-esteem. But negativity in adulthood, including abuse, troublesome relationships, difficulty setting goals and the fear of failure can all contribute to low self-esteem, too. With all these different factors, it’s no wonder that the majority of people have or has had internal struggles with self-esteem issues and many are seeking help to overcome them.

But low self-esteem just doesn’t affect a person’s internal workings. Some research has proven that it can also have dangerous external consequences. Low self-esteem has been linked to delinquency, substance abuse, eating disorders, alcoholism, unwanted pregnancy, depression, violence, racism and underachievement. It can invite victimization and even make a person suicidal. Scary, huh?

However, for most people, low self-esteem manifests itself in shyness, trouble with decision-making, coping problems, an inability to enjoy achievements and activities and a distorted view of the self. Sufferers are held back by an incorrect view of themselves. How many of you battle insecurity and feelings of worthlessness? They’re all too common. The good news is that these feelings don’t have to be permanent, no matter how long you’ve been experiencing them.

I’m here to give you the tools to change yourself so that you don’t end up at the worst end of low self-esteem. If everything works out as planned, you won’t experience any self-esteem problems anymore. My goal is to aid you in reforming the foundation of yourself. We’re going to build our way to a healthy self-concept from the ground up using my lessons. To start, I’ll give you some practical advice on how to begin our project.

My next article is designed to do just that. Tune in for the next installment.

Let’s be frank. Developing and boosting your self-esteem will take work—lots of work. It can be difficult to shake years of bad habits, attitudes and beliefs that have kept you in a pit of low self-esteem, but it’s not impossible. I’m here to help you navigate your way to a new life- a new way of being, thinking and acting that can change your life for the better.

Many of the factors that contribute to low self-esteem come from childhood issues. That may sound like a cliché, but it’s very true. It’s during childhood when we start to get impressions of the world around us and ourselves. It’s no surprise that the opinions we form during childhood follow us into adulthood.

We take the good and the bad with us into our adolescence and then into our adult years. It’s the bad that contributes to self-esteem problems and poses the greatest threat to our self-concepts. We are only what we make of ourselves and if we don’t believe in ourselves, we won’t get very far.

If you’re one of the many who’ve visited my website because you’re tired of wasting energy on negative thinking, you’ve come to the right place. I’m prepared to guide you to a new and improved version of yourself- the version of yourself that you’ve always wished you were but weren’t equipped to become before.

Not only can I aid you in shaking negative energy off, I can provide you with the tools to turn negativity into positive energy. This is an invaluable tool for anyone looking to build their self-esteem and create a new, sturdier self-image. The great byproduct of additional positive energy means that you can apply it to the world around you. And who wouldn’t want to make the world a better place?

I’m proposing to you that it’s your obligation to improve yourself and your surroundings. This may be a tall order for some, but it’s a responsibility shared by everyone from the youngest of readers to the oldest. It’s never too late to change. Let’s help each other.

Here is a general view on improving your self esteem… (from one article I wrote for SuccessElixir.net blog on June 7, 2008)

Although you might have had low self esteem for years, it is never too late to gain self-esteem.

Researchers have found that self-esteem often stems from parenting, and could even be related to genetics.

However, environmental influences, on-going experience, and positive reinforcement can go a long way to.

Since self-esteem is needed to be successful in relationships and at work, it is important to work on gaining self-esteem.

There are several websites that deal with tips on how to gain self-esteem. Here are some of the major components of self-esteem, and how to achieve it…

Self-Acceptance -

One of the first steps in gaining self-esteem is to accept oneself. Nobody is perfect, and therefore, neither will you be perfect. If you can begin to accept yourself, your positive and negatives, this is the first step on the road to self-esteem.

Resist Comparing Yourself to Others –

It’s very dangerous to compare yourself to others, because one person can never be like another person. You are unique. If you start to compare yourself to others, you will never be happy or feel good about yourself. You need to realize your uniqueness and your special talents to begin to have self-worth.

Never Put Yourself Down –

People with low self-esteem tend to put themselves down a lot. They never feel like they are doing the right thing, or are accomplishing things. Once again, no one is perfect. Therefore, everyone will make mistakes. The important thing is that you have done your best at whatever you are trying to accomplish.

Surround Yourself with Positive People –

People who are positive about life can be a great influence on others to think the same way. People who are negative most or all of the time do not make others feel good about things. Positive people do not only bring sunshine where there is rain, but are also in a position to make you feel good about yourself.

Remember all of the Positive Things You Do –

If you are a good person to others, dedicated to your work and home and other around you, you should feel good about your self and realize your self-esteem. You don’t have to be a great scientist or make a lot of money to make an impact in life and on people. So, think about all of the positive, helpful things you have done, and give yourself a pat on the back.

Look for Resources about Building Self-Esteem –

There are numerous books, websites, seminars and other materials that can help you begin to gain self-esteem. Take advantage of these resources. They can only help you move in the right direction.

Enjoy Time with Friends and Take Part in Outside Activities –

The more you socialize with good friends, and take time out to enjoy different types of activities, the better you will feel overall. A nice dinner with friends during which you share fun memories and camaraderie goes a long way to helping you feel good. Engaging in physical activities, such as sports, or even just going to a play or a movie, also keeps your mind active and free of negative thoughts.

Seek Help if You Need It –

You should want to enjoy life to its fullest, and low self-esteem will prevent you from this. If you have tried all of the things mentioned above, but are still lacking confidence and self-esteem, it’s you may want to consider seeking help from a counselor. Just like you take care of your bodily ills, your mind should also be as healthy as it could be. There is no shame in seeking psychological help to gain self-esteem.

This is your journey to self-discovery and acceptance. Though I’ll be in the passenger seat guiding you, it’s up to you to take the wheel. Now is the time to grab the keys.

Read my next article to determine if you truly suffer from low self-esteem and are ready to start the ignition…

“A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval.”
- Mark Twain

Self-esteem—It’s something that every person comes equipped with. It can connect people or drive them apart. But most importantly, it’s your opinion of yourself and your capabilities as a human being in the world.

The National Association of Self Esteem (NASE) defines self-esteem as the “experience of being capable of meeting life's challenges and being worthy of happiness.”

How true that definition is.

Recently, there’s been a trend amongst psychotherapists to build self-esteem in everyone. At first, you might think that this would help people and contribute to a better world in which to live, but the effects have been quite the opposite. Studies have shown that too much self-esteem in a person can be as dangerous as too little. The trick to harnessing the power of self-esteem is to find a healthy balance of it in each individual so that they can function to their fullest potential and avoid suffering from the effects of having too much or too little.

Still with me?

If you’re interested in this topic, it’s likely that you’re experiencing problems with low self-esteem. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s a condition like any other. I want to help you manage your condition, improve your self-image and help you achieve goals that wouldn’t have been possible without the correct amount of self-esteem to lead the way.

First, a general remark: people with low self-esteem tend to depend on outside factors to determine how they feel about themselves. Ask yourself if you’ve ever thought you were worthless, felt hopeless or couldn’t do anything right because someone else told you so or an event didn’t go as planned. These are major tell-tale signs of low self-esteem, but they can be corrected.

Let’s lay it out in the open right now: an assessment of oneself should depend on the self. You should be the one to determine your own worth and your worth should be objectively weighed. But that’s difficult to do when you lack confidence in your abilities. Can you spot the vicious cycle? A lifetime of second-guessing and weak self-perception is such an easy trap to fall into.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. If it already is, it doesn’t have to stay this way. Recognition of your low self-esteem is your first step towards improvement. If you’re an optimist, it may be your first glimmer of hope for a new life full of promise and potential. I can help you boost your self-esteem and I can begin teaching you how to do it.

All you have to do is read my next article.

Why shyness is a problem?

If I forgot all the hard feeling it cause, all the opportunities it destroys, but remembered this one thing I would be hating shyness to death, and trying to get rid of it ASAP. So, what's that "one thing"?

It prevents you from the joy of being yourself in public. It's fantastic feeling, full of strength–courage, pride and confidence. Everybody should get rid of shyness once and for all. Watch this video, and the tips at the end of this post for a good start to overcome shyness…

Here is more on how to overcome it from one of my articles on this subject:

The key is, quite simply, to recognize what exactly makes you shy. Analyze the sources of your problem, and then take practical steps to address it.

Make a serious effort to suppress your feelings of shyness. After just a little practice, you’ll be able to carry over the confidence you’ve developed into your interactions with total strangers.

Make a point of being actively interested in those you meet.

Compose a short list of subjects you can talk about with flair. Keep them mentally ready, and the next time you begin an informal chat, make some small talk about a topic you can discuss with wit and intelligence. Remember that you have interesting things that other people will want to hear about; the only trick is identifying them.
