<p>People who suffer from depression, tend to contract physical illnesses as well and this is because their mind is full of negative emotions. They can suffer from headaches, vomiting or diarrhea and some of the more severe cases also suffer from Agoraphobia.</p>

<p>To be sure, concentration and focus are two different animals, but they’re animals frolicking in the same jungle- your mind.</p>
<p>Simply, concentration is your attention and focus is your aiming of it.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, many people confronted with change find the experience frazzling. They note that their concentration levels drop and their ability to focus wanes. For many, this is the result of frustration, and <span id="more-183"></span>while it can be an obstacle, it’s not insurmountable.</p>
<p>The key to harnessing your concentration and focus levels again is to gain a working understand of what these two concepts are and apply a few simple rules each time you adopt a new task:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>Enter your project with a clear head.</strong></p>
<p>Temporarily drop anything that may be bogging your mind and fill the extra space with objectives and plans to complete your task. Having a clear understanding of what you need to do can save you time and spare you more frustration. Consider cleaning or reorganizing the space in which you plan on working before engaging in the task. Clearing your work area can have the added benefit of helping to clear your mind.</p>
<p><strong>Choose a suitable environment.</strong></p>
<p>Having the right atmosphere is imperative to getting things done. Some people require frills like warm, soft lighting and music and calming scents to help them focus. For most though, picking a great environment in which to concentrate simply depends on finding a quiet, comfortable place disconnected from people and things that can act as distractions.</p>
<p><strong>Eliminate distractions.</strong></p>
<p>In our modern age, this is easier said than done. But it’s possible. Phones, computers and televisions and other external devices are the obvious offenders, but also account for individual-specific distractions. What is it that breaks your concentration? Is it a pile of laundry? A To-do list on your refrigerator? A loud clock? Get rid of anything that makes your ability to concentrate and focus difficult, even if it’s as simple as positioning yourself away from doors and windows. Remember that out of sight really is out of mind sometimes.</p>
<p><strong>Think of yourself as a kid.</strong></p>
<p>Sounds silly, right? It’s not. You wouldn’t expect a child’s unwavering concentration or focus on a task for hours at a time, so why hold yourself to expectations that high? Enter a task fully aware that the average attention span of an adult is approximately 20 minutes. Allot yourself the necessary time to relax in intervals. Add that time to the projected time for task completion to give yourself a little mental leeway throughout your projects.</p>
<p><strong>Reward yourself between breaks.</strong></p>
<p>Find ways to treat yourself and rejuvenate your mind while resting. Get a drink, a snack or allow yourself a small amount of time to engage in one of the previously identified distractions (as long as there isn’t a chance that you will be consumed by it).  Remind yourself that you have only X number of things to do before the task is completed. This will help you keep your eye on the prize and avoid procrastination.</p>
<p><strong>Know that <a  target="_blank" href="http://successelixir.net/ways-to-beat-procrastination/" title="ways to beat procrastination... ">procrastination</a> is an enemy in disguise.</strong></p>
<p>Many people consider procrastination to be an ally. They trick themselves into thinking that procrastination is actually time management. After all, you’ll get around to the task eventually, right? Wrong! There is quite a difference between prioritizing tasks and neglecting them until they can no longer go undone. Procrastination usually means that work left until the last minute will suffer. In areas where great concentration and focus are required to accomplish a task, thoughts can be muddied by worry, stress and even irritation. All of these can result in lackluster results.</p></blockquote>
<p>Everyone has their own biorhythmic clock. If you find that certain times of the day work are more conducive for concentration and focus for you, by all means, listen to your body set a schedule. Keep your body running on optimum by providing it with an adequate amount of sleep and ease up on agents that can potentially damage your concentration levels like junk food, drugs and alcohol.</p>
<p>A huge misconception about concentration and focus is that they’re effortless. In reality, concentrating and focusing requires just as much energy as the task requiring them. You have to be aware of your need for them to complete your task. Use this tips to clear your head, accomplish your goals and put frustration behind you once and for all.</p>

Researchers have recognized that positive thoughts help people through illness and may help them heal faster.</p>
<p>One of the major ways that the mind helps healing is through <strong>visualization</strong>&#8230;</p>
<p>In many medical settings, when individuals are undergoing tough medical procedures or processes such as chemotherapy, patients are told <font color="#ff0000">to visualize the cancer cells dying</font> as they suffer from the effects of chemotherapy, or visualize the growth of new, healthy cells each time they take chemo.</p>
<p>Can the mind really kill those cancer cells by visualizing it, or does the visualization just help the patient cope with the rigors of chemotherapy?</p>
<blockquote><p>It is believed that the positive emotions fostered by such visualization actually bring about healing&#8230;<span id="more-104"></span></p>
<p>There are many books and articles that have been written on this, but more importantly, the medical community recognizes the importance of using the mind to heal the body as many medical center now offer ancillary services such as yoga, meditation, and mind-body programs to cancer patients and other seriously ill patients.<big><br />
</big></p></blockquote>
<p>Doctors recognize more readily the importance of the mind in healing, and actively encourage a patient’s involvement in his or her treatment.</p>
<p>In one case, an oncologist in a major medical center diagnosed a particularly serious form of breast cancer in a middle-aged patient.  In fact, according to the patient, the oncologist told her that it was the worst case of cancer he had seen in 20 years of practice.</p>
<p>Obviously, the patient was very upset&#8230;</p>
<p>After surgery, the oncologist insisted that the patient attend a mind-body program.  He wanted her to start it before she started chemotherapy.  He recognized that she needed the help of her mind to help her through the treatment, and to give her the best chance of long-term survival.</p>
<blockquote><p>The patient attended the program and said it was one of the best things she had ever done.  It not only got her through treatment, it got her through nine years of cancer-free survival.  Considering the type of cancer this individual had, surviving nine years was almost a <strong>miracle</strong>.  <big><br />
</big></p></blockquote>
<p>Each year of her life she had something to look forward to.  She exercised and enjoyed life.  She died in her 10th survivor year when the cancer recurred in many parts of her body.</p>
<p>We all know those people who have negative attitudes about themselves and their health. They usually seem bitter and complaining, and are obviously not happy.  On the other hand, we know those people who may have many medical problems, yet seem happy and accepting.  It is not that they don’t suffer as much.  It is that they have reached a state of mind of acceptance and a positive can-do attitude.</p>
<p>Therefore, studies aside, isn’t it worth it to <strong>train your mind</strong> on the positive in health situations, and to look forward to healing?</p>

<p>Do you believe that <strong>a positive attitude</strong> and <u>forward thinking mindset</u> can help you <font color="#ff0000">to succeed</font>?</p>
<p>It is interesting that even Johann Wolgang von Goethe, the late <strong>18th</strong> century poet and scientist recognized the power of the mind in his essay, “On Action.”</p>
<p>Here is a portion of that essay,</p>
<p>&#034;…the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence<br />
moves too.</p>
<p>All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise not have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.&#034;</p>
<blockquote><p><center><strong>Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, do it.</strong></center></p></blockquote>
<p>It’s important to realize that we have a certain amount of control over our success in life and<span id="more-89"></span> in work, and it has to do with the mind.  If we don’t believe in ourselves and train our minds to be negative, can we really move forward in a positive way?</p>
<p>On the other hand, if we train our minds to think and focus on success, and even picture ourselves being in a successful situation, we somehow find the ways and means of being successful.Here is a case in point:</p>
<blockquote><p> An young lady wanted to write a book on a particular subject, but didn’t know where to begin.  She became passionate about the idea and started to do research on writing a proposal.  She completed the proposal and started to present it agents.</p>
<p>She spoke to someone who knew an agent.  The agent took her on.  The agent told her how difficult it would be for her, an unknown person, to publish the book.  She made up her mind to persist.  She finished the book, and the agent began to present it to publishers.  She received rejection after rejection, although the publishers felt the book was well written.</p>
<p>She decided to self-publish.  It was a hard road, but she did not give up.  The book was published.  A publicist who doesn’t usually take on self-published books, liked the idea behind the book and decided to take it on.</p>
<p>Now, as a published author with a publicist, she began to picture herself selling a lot of books.  She pictured herself speaking on radio and appearing on TV.  Within two months, the book was on a bestseller list, she had three radio interviews, and by the fourth month, she appeared on TV – something almost unheard of for a self-published author.</p></blockquote>
<p><font color="#ff0000"><strong>Was this luck</strong>, or was it the power of her mind?</font>  It really was the principle that Goethe discussed in his essay.  It was the commitment of the mind.  If this young lady decided her book was not worth it and she would not succeed, she would have never gotten this far.</p>
<p>In the meantime, be aware of how you use your mind.  Positive thinking, believing in yourself, and visualizing success are ways you can begin to train your mind to succeed.</p>
