Potential in Intelligences and Accelerated Learning
How many times have you heard someone bragging about their IQ?
I’m willing to bet too many.
You may have scoffed at someone who was obviously exaggerating. It’s also possible that another may have unintentionally made you feel inferior. Both of these scenarios are unwarranted.
“Why”, you ask?
Because respected Harvard professor of education Howard Gardner had his own ideas about intelligence. His book “Frames of Mind” turned the world of psychology upside-down with the theory that intelligence is fluid and capable of being found in more than just the traditional mathematical and verbal areas. For Gardner, intelligence is incapable of standard measure- much less able to pinpoint to a specific number.
Gardener instead defined intelligence by the “ability to solve a problem or fashion a product which is valued in one or more cultural settings.” If that sounds exciting, it’s because it is. He posits that there are, in fact, multiple intelligences.
And some of the areas that Gardner identified as “Intelligences” are:
- Linguistic
- Logical-Mathematical
- Visual-Spatial
- Musical
- Bodily-Kinesthetic
- Interpersonal
- Intrapersonal
- Naturalist
Do you recognize specific abilities of yours that correlate with the categories? You should. Although not everyone will excel in every category, everyone has an ability for each however minor or pronounced.
When considering the categories, take note of your personal inclinations. You probably know right off the bat which categories you “understand” more than others. These areas are likely to provide you with insight into yourself- namely, how you perceive the world and interpret the information you glean from it.
For example, do you need visuals to learn about new subjects? If so, you’re probably Visually-spatially inclined. Does taking part in an activity take the edge off your learning curve? You might have an aptitude for Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence.
So what does this mean to you?
Everything.
If you’re reading my website and are serious about improving yourself, Gardner’s theories, coupled with a willingness to try Accelerated Learning, can propel you to personal heights previously unseen.
But how?
It’s simple.
Identifying what type of intelligence(s) you have and crafting a personal life “lesson plan” using Accelerated Learning helps you build on your strengths.
From now on, you’ll be working with- and not against- yourself.
You may have experienced a number of setbacks before visiting my website and trusting me to help you along the way to personal success. You may have beaten yourself up over losses and repeated mistakes. But I’m here to tell you that you way out of the rut is to look ahead.
Accelerated Learning is progressive, incorporates facets of Gardner’s multiple intelligences theory, and like the best medical treatments, addresses the whole person. If you choose to follow an Accelerated Learning program, you’re bound to see improvements in memory, performance and your ability to learn. And that’s just to start. For people seeking to improve their lives, especially on the job, these benefits are invaluable.
So what are you waiting for? Take advantage of your intelligence(s) within an Accelerated Learning program and unleash your inner genius. Apply your sharpened skill set to all your endeavors and begin experiencing the reality that has eluded you so far.
